Playing as a tool to motivate pupils in musical and educational classwork in elementary school. Games with music theory in classes with extended teaching of music lessons

The thesis deals with the use of musical educational games in teaching music theory. The theoretical part explains some general concepts such as game, activation, or the child's personality. Text is based on the history of education, highlighting the views of famous philosophers, doctors, teachers, psychologists and other thinkers, who focused on child's play and the personality of the child. This part of the thesis also presents ways how to work with music playing in the singing, listening, instrumental and musical movement activities, according to some contemporary music teachers. The research focuses on experimental teaching with application of games with music theory, which were specially developed by the author. The research subject is the student and his involvement in activities that help with music theory teaching. The study identified some sub-goals: Discover the impact of educational games for pupil's activation and their participation in experimental teaching music education. Discover pupil's experiences from the game and checking the effectivity of the learning. Determine to what extent the didactic game affect the student's interests to learn music theory to alleviate the fear of poorly understood subject matter. The research verifies the set hypothesis. Václav Clemens Žebrácký - Idea unionis musicae et poeticae (1617). Edition and analysis.

The main purpose of the thesis is a commented critical edition of treatise Idea unionis musicae et poeticae written by Václav Clemens Žebrácký. The treatise is a written version of the disputation presented on 8 March, 1617 in a great hall of Carolinum. The small print (9 ff.), preserved uniquely in the Castle library in K ivoklát (shelf-mark XLIV. f. 12, extra draft 33) has not been hitherto reflected in the scientific (musicological and non-musicological) literature. Apart from the critical edition of the Clement's treatise, the aim of the thesis is to pou it in the historical context and to point out its connection with the intellectual background outside of Prague. A System of Instrumental Education in the UK

This Master thesis describes possibilities of instrumental tuition in the United Kingdom. It focuses on curricular documents as A Common Approach and The Importance of Music - A National Plan for Music Education, further on music services - organizations which mediate music tuition and also on the system of musical examinations, which is very different than way musical exams in the Czech Republic. The thesis outlines also the topic of El Sistema, a music-educational project founded in Venezuela, in the last decade gaining considerable popularity also in Europe - especially in the United Kingdom. The thesis pays attention also to ABRSM (The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) and its activities - creating syllables and other publications, publishing music scores, organization of music examinations and providing diplomas. In the field of music examinations the thesis focuses on Violin and Music theory. The last chapter if this thesis focuses on comparing some aspects of the instrumental tuition in the United Kingdom and a system of music schools in the Czech Republic. The conclusion brings a suggestion, how could the Czech curriculum for music schools improve.

The application of musical didactic tools for teaching piano at elementary art schools

The diploma thesis deals with the topic of using musical teaching aids in the study of piano playing at music schools up to the 5th year of study. First, it presents individual areas of children's psychological and psychomotor development, in which the author demonstrates the link between children's development and the positive effects of the use of musical teaching aids in teaching. The subsequent focus of the work is an introduction of and a proposal for the use of specific musical didactic aids for the study of piano playing, i.e. in the subjects Piano and Music Theory, in the framework of education at music schools. Attention is paid to individual aspects influencing the functionality of these aids. The results of a questionnaire created and sent to piano teachers are also presented, on the basis of which, among other things, a selection of the described musical didactic aids is based. The thesis was created with the intention of acquainting beginning teachers with a wide range of musical teaching aids. It can help with better orientation in the available materials for pedagogical practice and with a more effective conception of teaching. From a Living Tradition to the Theory: Comments on the Origin of the Term ‘Zahušťování’ in Janáček’s Terminology

The contribution of Czech composer Leoš Janáček (1854–1928) to music theory has been appreciated especially in the field of harmony. Within the context of music theory, Janáček's ideas on the 'thickness' of harmonic material first appeared in his study O skladbě souzvukův a jejich spojův (On the Construction of Chords and their Connections) in 1896. The term became fully developed and frequently used in his Úplná nauka o harmonii (The Complete Harmony Theory) in 1920. The origin and the use of the term by Janáček can be documented in connection with his experience with and discoveries from traditional folk music.
